How Our Journey Began..

We’re Jason and Michelle, the faces behind EKKOnesters. Our journey commenced in Northern Washington many years ago, where we stumbled upon our first recreational vehicle, an Airstream Argosy. This experience igniting our zest for travel.

As our family expanded, we transitioned to a Mercedes Sprinter Van, traversing a myriad of destinations across the Western states. Yet again, with evolving needs, we sought a more comfortable and practical option, leading us
to the 2022 Winnebago EKKO, affectionately dubbed “Bad Betty,” marking a new chapter of adventures. Our time with Bad Betty really opened doors for us within the van life community, we were able to explore the EKKO’s versatility and get our feet wet with aftermarket modifications allowing us to truly get the most out of our vehicle. This ultimately led us towards the new 2025 Winnebago Sprekko providing an enhanced EKKO experience. We tastefully dubbed her “Dirty Dolly” because she is built to go even further off-road and further off-the-grid.

Traveling in either of the Winnebago EKKO vehicles blends modern convenience with expansive off-road capabilities, courtesy of the AWD system and the “Bad Betty Package” or the “Dirty Dolly” super set-up. From utilizing mobile apps for planning to conducting meticulous pre-road checks, each step ensures a seamless journey ahead. Packing essentials, meal planning, and safety checks are all integral parts of our routine, enabling us to fully immerse ourselves in the present season and explore diverse landscapes, from snowy forests to endless beaches.

More than mere travelers, we are automotive enthusiasts deeply entrenched in the world of vehicles. I, Jason, have over 15 years of experience in the automotive industry working in product development. Projects included suspension enhancements for RVs and emergency vehicles, performance enhancements for cars, along with other automotive accessories. This experience provided the ability to comprehend the myriads of expectations placed on vehicles. From this, my passion for enriching travel experiences and developing products is deeply personal.

Michelle comes from a creative arts background with a keen eye for interior design. She dedicated numerous years creating and teaching an art program for preschoolers to help spark their creative energy. From our first real adventures with our Mercedes Sprinter Van, we have documented our “van life” journey with tons of photos and video. While archiving all of this footage Michelle became inspired to tap into her creative side to create and share some great content with you all. She has also been able to incorporate her interior design skills into the recreational van world, as you may have seen in some of our content already.

Throughout our travels we’ve been fortunate to build some great relationships with fellow travel enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and amazing off-road brands. Recognizing needs and potential aftermarket upgrades we collaborated with multiple manufacturers, product developers, and exceptional teams, to bring innovative products to market for vehicles such as Subaru, INEOs Grenadier, Sprinter, Ford Transit, and of course Winnebago EKKO. Our goal is to encourage others to explore and find new roads and memories. We hope to share our commitment to quality, reliability, and products designed to enhance your travel experience.

As always, we are always looking forward to the Adventures ahead.
